The fuck up.
That was me.
Once a king,
Now a wanderer.
I’d thrown the best parts of me away, over and over again.
I was reckless.
I’d been exiled.
I did my time.
I’ve cleaned up.
Well, sort of.
I got plans.
Yeah, good ones.
Then I ran into her.
A bolt of lightning
Out of reach.
The woman I once scorned years ago
is now the woman I can’t live without.
I need what I didn’t think I’d ever need again.
I want and want and want.
She’s the epicenter of the war I’ve triggered,
of the battle in my rusted heart.
I may be as reckless as I ever was,
but I’m determined as fuck.
To hell with it.
I want it all.

I wasn't expecting this. Butler hasn't had a great reputation. He has messed up again and again, as we have seen in the first books. But redemption comes in the mostly unlikely of circumstances. Sometimes Karma can create the moment that can change everything. Only if you are paying attention.
Tania has led a life where everything was always just "fine". Until Karma created that moment in time where she could choose a different path. To borrow from another series/author. That BOOM. Will they both pay attention? Will they both grab this moment in time and make it theirs for eternity?
Cat Porter has really out done herself with this one. I didn't think I would love it as equally as I did Dig and Locke's stories. But Butler and Tania have captured my heart. Beautifully written, Like poetry in prose of romance thru heartache. It takes work and dedication to grab and hold onto what you dream to have. It's sometimes bumpy and ugly. And sometimes it all pays off. I don't want to let go of them. I want to keep reading until they are old and gray and sitting on the porch swings. Fans of this series will be extremely happy with Butler. And I look forward to Finger's story next.
